Synopsis[]

As a birthday gift to Fay, Joe lets her control the steering wheel of the plane. However, the plane was simply sitting in the hanger with Lowell pushing against it to simulate turbulence.

At the lunch counter, Helen enters from the kitchen to find all the guys hung over from Walter's bachelor party the previous night. Helen is unsympathetic and even bangs on a pot the worsen their headaches. Walter enters from the stairwell with lots of energy explaining that, as an air traffic controller, he always need to be at the top of his game to make split second decisions, but is then unsure about what to order from the lunch counter. As Walter quickly leaves to head back to the control tower, the crew discusses the upcoming wedding. Tired of not being asked to dance, Helen is taking Henry Applegate as her date. When she asks Brian if he's bringing anyone, Brian sees Alex enter the terminal and pesters her to be his date at the wedding, but she refuses. At a table near the lunch counter, Fay asks Lowell if his ex-wife Bunny is coming to the wedding. Helen asks if Lowell thinks they'll reconnect, and Lowell is optimistic.

At the wedding reception in a hotel banquet hall, Roy and Antonio enter. Roy signs his name very large in the guest book and removes the card from a gift so the wedding couple will assume it's from him. Lowell sees Bunny enter alone and Fay and Helen encourage him to speak with her. Meanwhile, Roy searches for his table and realizes he's been placed at the children's table. Antonio proudly shows off his new suit until Helen's date enters wearing the same suit. When Joe and Brian enter, they begin checking out women and Brian shares that he already got a room in the hotel to take some woman too. They are then interrupted when Joe is spotted by Al Whimper, boring older man from the Whale Lodge that is trying to recruit Joe.

As music plays, Henry asks Helen to dance. As Helen briefly waits on the dancefloor for Henry to put his jacket at their table she is approached by a very attractive man and asked to dance. Before she can properly answer, Henry whisks her away. Lowell finally works up the courage to speak with Bunny and she immediately begins flirting with him. Back at the children's table, Roy plays the shell game with the kids and tells them to get cash from their parents purses/wallets so they can bet on it. Meanwhile, Antonio sees an attractive woman but in unsure how to approach her. Brian gives him advice before leaving to chase after a gorgeous woman he just saw. Joe continues to try to escape Al, but is unsuccessful. Bunny and Lowell continue to flirt until Bunny's date Phil comes over. Bunny shares that Phil drives a Porsche and asks about who Lowell brought to the wedding. Panicking, Lowell lies and says he's here with Yvette...who drives a Vet. Helen, who has continuously been dancing with Henry, asks for a break, but before she can speak with her GQ guy, Henry starts dancing again because the next song is a merengue. Antonio continues to pine for the attractive woman he saw earlier and Fay encourages him to speak to her but spots a gravy stain on his jacket before he leaves. Fay tries to help clean it, but makes it worse by using a napkin with butter on it. Antonio is left with no choice but to take off his suit jacket but this reveals a large ink stain from a leaky pen.

Later in the evening, Fay pushes Antonio one last time to speak with the attractive woman he saw earlier. Antonio finally approaches her and apologizes for the ink stain, but she stands to reveal a large stain on the front of her dress. Smiling, the pair goes to the dance floor. On the other side of the reception, Joe and Brian both share that the mother of the bride open mouth kissed both of them. When they learn that she did the same to Roy, they are both disgusted. Exhausted and disheveled from hours of dancing, Helen quickly gives her number to the GQ guy, who seems put off by her current appearance. Walter approaches Joe anh Brian, praising Brian for his ability to stay single and not commit to a woman. Disappointed by the observation, Brian tosses his room key on to a table and leaves the wedding. While Lowell sits sadly alone at a table, Bunny approaches to say goodbye. Suddenly, Alex appears pretending to be Lowell's date Yvette (because she was tipped off by Fay as she came in). Bunny is clearly shaken that Lowell is daing such an attractive women. After Bunny leaves, Alex shares that she didn't want to come to the wedding because her ex-boyfriend who was afraid of commitment was also getting married that weekend in Florida. Finally, Alex and Lowell share a dance as "Isn't It Romantic?" plays.

Quotes[]

  • Joe Hackett - "Helen, five coffees please. Oh, and you might want to see if these guys want some."

  • Helen Chapel - "So did this bachelor party follow the usual routine? You drink til your eyes spin, drool over the obligatory stripper, and then go home and throw up?"
Roy Biggins - "Not necessarily in that order."

  • Brian Hackett - "Walter, Walter. You had as much to drink as I did last night. How is it you have energy to burn and I feel like I slept with a herd of goat? That is just a feeling, right?"
Walter - "I'm an air traffic controller guys. I have to be at the top of my form at all times so I can make those split second decisions."
Helen Chapel - "What can I get you Walter?"
    Walter - "Just Coffee."
    Helen Chapel - "Okay."
Walter - "Or do I want orange juice? You know what? I'll have tea. Do I want tea? Yeah! Tea."

  • Antonio Scarpacci - "Roy, Roy. You sign the guest book so big, there's no room for anyone else to sign."
Roy Biggins - "Makes them think your important. Then when they don't find a gift from you later, they just figure yours is the one without the card."
Antonio Scarpacci - "And you just assume there will always be one without a card?"
    Roy Biggins - "No."
[Roy removes the card from a gift on the table and places it in his suit jacket]

  • Brian Hackett - "Antonio, Antonio, do what I do. Hang on her every word and never ever treat her like a sex object. Unless of course you object is sex. Hope that helps"

  • Brian Hackett - "Alright, I'll see The Crying Game. But why is it so important to you?"

  • Joe Hackett - "Hey, Walter. How does it feel to be married?"
Walter - "Great! And I'm sure I did the right thing too. Watching Brian, here, move from women to women all night made me realize, I'm not cut out for the single life. Heck, when I'm playing with my grandchildren, you'll still be out there on the prowl. You are the king! Oh! Make sure you try some of that wedding cake. It's real fudgy."
    Joe Hackett - "You okay?"
Brian Hackett - "Hey, I'm the king, right?"
