Claire Bennett was Helen's old high school English teacher. She was played by Jane Carr.

Claire Bennett was Helen's teacher for English Literature at Siasconset High School. During her senior year of high school, Helen didn't read Don Quixote, failed her final, and was told by Mrs. Bennett that she was disappointed in her (Driving Mr. DeCarlo).
Years later, Mrs. Bennett returned to Nantucket and ran into Helen and setup a lunch date. Helen hurriedly read Don Quixote to try to impress Mrs. Bennett, but when she arrived she just tried to sell Helen cleaning products (Driving Mr. DeCarlo).
