Deborah "Debbie" Murphy (also known as "Gammy") was a videotape rewinder at Nantucket Video. She was played by Ellen Albertini Dow.

Bio[]

Debbie Murphy was an elderly grandmother that worked as videotape rewinder at Nantucket Video. When Joe came in on December 24th, 1992 to complain about a 50 cent rewind fee, Carter called out Debbie and fired her in front of everyone for making too many mistakes. When Joe learned that Lowell watch the video without rewinding it, he called to apologize and beg for her job back only to learn that Debbie collapsed from stress and was hospitalized. When Joe visited the hospital to apologize, he found Debbie's hospital room filled with her family and neighbors. Saying his name was "Jed", Joe apologized and descertely exited. When Debbie woke up, her family assumed that Jed was an angel that helped save her (The Customer's Usually Right).

  • Debbie's favorite Christmas Carol was "Joy to the World".
  • Lowell would purposely not rewind videotapes he rented because he it would bring a smile to Debbie's face to rewind them (The Customer's Usually Right).
