Wings

Eleanor Kingsbury was the de facto head of the wealthy Kingsbury family on Nantucket. She was played by Marian Seldes.

Bio[]

Eleanor Kingsbury had earned the reputation of always getting her way and being intolerant of even the smallest problems. Prior to the inception of Sandpiper Air, she had patronized Tom Nevers Field by taking a flight on Siasconset Air. The owners of that small airline misplaced one of Eleanor Kingsbury's bags and in the 11 minutes it took to find it, she had them completely shut down and financially ruined (Death Becomes Him).

Tired of her father making a fool of their family and marrying a much younger woman who he planned to leave his fortune to, Eleanor sent poisoned cognac to murder her father. After his death, Eleanor hired Sandpiper Air to fly to Miami to to retrieve his body for the funeral. However, in Miami, Joe received the wrong coffin and was forced to pose as Harrison's corpse for the viewing. Before departing for the cemetery, Eleanor confessed to killing him. Harrison's corpse came to life, frightening her. In actuality it was Joe who had overheard it and demanded she be brought to justice. This was presumably done as an autopsy was performed on the real Harrison Kingsbury and Florida state troopers inspected the bottle of cognac, which likely led to her being convicted of first-degree murder. (Death Becomes Him).
