Gone But Not Faygotten is the eighteenth episode of the sixth season on Wings, and the 114th episode overall in the series.
Synopsis[]
In Joe's office, Lowell sings "Moon River" with the wrong lyrics while Joe tries to complete paperwork. Fay enters and asks for the day off to attend the circus. With their flights completely booked and a charter flight that afternoon, Joe has to refuse Fay's request, so she quits. Joe and Brian try to talk Fay out of quitting, but she feels like it is time she retired.
Days later, Joe and Brian decorate Joe's office with Antonio preparing for Fay retirement party. After saying how much he'll miss Fay, Antonio is handed a bill for his portion of the party and claims he hardly knew Fay. Helen enters the office and is underwhelmed, but Joe protests that Fay wouldn't want a lot of fanfare. Next Lowell arrives with the cake, but it has a Magic Eye 3D image of Fay on it (which Antonio claims is naked). Next Casey enters with flowers she bought for Fay using Helen's credit card. When Roy enters he is very impressed that Joe got a Big Sandwich. When Fay enters she is pleasant surprised (especially by the Big Sandwich). Roy abruptly leaves and Lowell tries to roast Fay. As Joe and Brian are giving Fay a heartfelt going away gift, a woman arrives to apply for her job. As Fay begins to tell a long, aimless story of her life, Joe sets out to speak with the job applicant. Helen exits the office and suggests Joe hires Casey. Joe refuses especially since Casey drives Brian nuts. Brian exits the office and Helen leaves so Joe can talk to Brian about hiring Casey. Joe convinces Brian by offer Casey the job and saying that she won't accept it. The pair calls Casey out of the office and she accepts the job offer gladly.
Three days later, Casey is efficiently working at Sandpiper. An addition to being friendly with passenger, she's also digitized their files, update the ticketing system, and even scrapped Brian's gumballs of the ceiling. As Joe and Brian sit at the lunch counter discussing Casey performance and musing about where Fay is, Lowell enters with a tape recorder with some of Fay's anecdotes and wisdom saved on it. When Lowell informs Joe that the plane is ground for the day while he waits for a new part, Joe is nervous that Casey handling it. When Casey manages the situation well, even Brian is impressed. And because Casey offered 50% off flight vouchers, a passenger gave her two tickets for the Celtics-Knicks game that night. Casey gives the tickets to Joe and Brian, but because the flights to Boston are all sold out, she suggests they take the ferry (and bet on the Celtics).
Brian and Joe arrive at the ferry with time to spare, but are shocked see Fay working the counter at the Windsurfer Ferry. Fay says she was planning on going on a cruise, but it was booked up and an opportunity came up at the ferry. When pressed, Fay admits that retirement wasn't what she thought it would be, that's she's been lonely, and she wants her old job back.
Brian and Joe are unable to fire Casey and decide to have both Fay and Casey work the one job. While Joe and Brian worry about paying two employees for one job, Casey and Fay butt heads over seniority and equally splitting their work. Fed up, Casey barges into Joe's office, yells at and insults the Hacketts then demands they choose between her and Fay.
As the credits roll, Casey is now seen working at the Windsurfer Ferry.

Fay Cochran - "I'm 62 years old and I've never been to the circus. What's going on is I want to go to the circus and Joe won't let me."
Brian Hackett - "Hey, hey, hey. Don't blame him. It is a school night."
- Lowell Mather - "Fay, listen. A few tips about going to the circus: get there early to avoid the crowds; don't fill up on cotton candy; and don't ist up front, the clowns will mess with your mind."
- Roy Biggins - "Now, wait, wait, wait. Before you all get started. I-I have something to say. This party...has got dull written all over it. So I'll just take a hunk of this and go. See ya Cochran!"
- Lowell Mather - "Well, listen, instead of giving the same old, boring farewell speech, I thought it would be funny if we roasted Fay. I'll start, I'll start. Boy that Fay! How about her breath after lunch? It's-it's bad."
Joe Hackett - "L-Lowell--"
Lowell Mather - "And how about the way she dresses? It's just...bad.
Everyone - "Lowell--"
Lowell Mather - "Have you ever drive in a car with her? She drives bad. Fay, I think I speak for all of us when I say you are really bad."
- Joe Hackett - "You've always been very special to us. You've been here since the beginning. Honestly, without you I don't think there would have been a Sandpiper."
Brian Hackett - "That's right Fay. You're the heart and soul of this airline. And, uh, we don't know what we're going to do without you."
Joe Hackett - "Just know, no one could ever replace you."
Woman - "Excuse me. I'm here about the job."
- Joe Hackett - "I need someone today."
Helen Chapel - "Worry no more. I have the perfect person for the job."
Joe Hackett - "Really? Who?"
Helen Chapel - "Casey!"
Joe Hackett - "No. No, no, no, no."
Helen Chapel - "Why not?"
Joe Hackett - "Well, to steal a line from Lowell: "She's bad"."
- Brian Hackett - "The woman's lived for many years...Not one interesting story. Not one!"
- Brian Hackett - "I miss Fay. She wasn't ambitious or efficient."
- Roy Biggins - "Hey, guys. I just heard a great joke. How many Sandpiper employees does it take to change a lightbulb? Four. Two to change the bulb and two other idiots to pay 'em for doing it."
Trivia[]
- Fay states that she is 62 years old meaning that she was born in 1932 or 1933. Fay also says she's been working since she was 20 years old.
- Brian and Joe get a Big Sandwich for Fay's retirement party.
- Fay's reveals that her very first trip on an airplane was to Albany (or maybe Buffalo).
- This episode is currently unavailable for streaming in the United States likely due to the music rights for "Moon River", which is song by Lowell (with incorrect lyrics) at the beginning of the episode.
- Oddly, Lowell does actually know the correct lyrics to "Moon River" when he sings it in The Puppetmaster.
