Lou was an elderly man living at the Golden Crest Seniors Home. He was played by Phil Leeds.

Bio[]

In the early 1960s, Lou and his brother, Harry, open Lou & Harry's Delicatessen in New York City. In 1964, they introduced the pocket knish and did very well. After working together for approximately six years, Harry bought Lou out of his share and two weeks later sold the deli for a large profit. Believing that Harry knew about the deal and purposely undersold him. They didn't speak to each other again for nearly 30 years (All About Christmas Eve).

After retiring, Lou's son put him in the Golden Crest Seniors Home. When Joe went to Golden Crest to volunteer, Lou guilted him into bring him Boston with Brian to see Tracy Hayes dance nude at Club Shangri-La. Despite complaining the whole time, Lou appeared to have enjoyed himself (The Lyin' King).

On Christmas Eve 1996, while trying to evade his brother and escape Golden Crest, Lou showed up at Joe's home. However, Harry followed him. After conjoling from Brian and Joe, Lou and Harry finally revealed what caused the rift between them and Harry gave Lou a check for his half of the sale finally reconciling the brothers.

Trivia[]

  • Lou has a brother named Harry who is an orthodontist and who "screwed [him] blue" (The Lyin' King).
  • Lou was Jewish (All About Christmas Eve).
  • Lou was originally intended to be a one-shot character. However, Phil Leeds' performance had gotten such applause that the producers elected for him to return in a future Christmas-themed episode.
