After a 10 year long relationship, Melissa Williams was going to marry David Barnes on Valentine's Day on Nantucket. However, when she got on Sandpiper's plane from Boston to Nantucket on February 14th, 1996, she and Brian had an immediate romantic connection. She even decided not to get married. However, she almost immediately reverse her decision when they land and she sees her fiancé.

- When Melissa met her birth mother, her bio mom was so excited that she went out a tattoo of Melissa's name but misspelled with only one "S" (Love at First Flight).
- Melissa voted for Michael Dukakis in the 1988 presidential race (Love at First Flight).
