Quotes[]
- Fay Cochran - "Roy, your mother must be thrilled about getting married. That Fred seems like quite a catch."
Roy Biggins - "I don't know. There's something about that Simon Says guy, I just don't trust."
Fay Cochran - "He said he loves her. Why is that so hard to believe?"
Roy Biggins - "Because my mother's got the soul of a pit bull and the face of a sock puppet. Love ain't that blind."
- Helen Chapel - "Stop it! You guys are acting like 12-year-olds. Hey, Miss Jenkins! Miss Jenkins, it's me!"
Laurie Jenkins - "Oh, wait a minute, you're..."
Helen Chapel - ""Young lady, get those houghnuts out of your mouth""
Laurie Jenkins - "Oh, Helen Chapel! I didn't recognize you. You got so thin."
Helen Chapel - "Yes. Well, I'm happy to say that food is no longer an important part of my life."
Laurie Jenkins - "Oh, that's wonderful. What do you do now?"
Helen Chapel - "I run the lunch counter."
- Helen Chapel - "Casey, Casey, get over here. You're not going to believe this about Miss Jenkins."
Casey Chapel - "What? What?"
Helen Chapel - "She slept with Brian."
Casey Chapel - "Oh, my god! Does this mean I'm no longer her favorite student?"
Helen Chapel - "Well, I'd say Brian had a leg up on you."
- Fay Cochran - "How'd it go at the retirement village?"
Antonio Scarpacci - "Were you able to stop your mother from marrying that awful Simon Says guy?"
Roy Biggins - "I didn't have to."
Fay Cochran - "He backed out?"
Roy Biggins - "He died."
Fay Cochran - "Oh my goodness."
Roy Biggins - "It happened just before I got there. The old guy was leading a Simon Says game when he collapsed. On the way down he yelled "Call an ambulance", but no one moved."
Fay Cochran - "Oh, don't tell me."
Roy Biggins - "That's right. He forgot to say "Simon says"."
Antonio Scarpacci - "Oh Roy."
[Roy begin laughing]
Fay Cochran - "Oh Roy, that's awful."
Roy Biggins - "I'm sorry."
[Fay begins laughing with Roy]
Antonio Scarpacci - "Fay, I'm ashamed of you."
[Antonio joins in and they all laugh uncontrollably]
Roy Biggins - "All right, that's enough. Now stop laughing. [Pause] I didn't say "Simon says"."
[They all start laughing again]
- Kenny - "Have you ever experienced equipment failure?"
Brian Hackett - "Equipment failure? Why are you asking me that? You didn't ask my brother that question. What have you heard?"
Laurie Jenkins - "Mr. Hackett..."
Brian Hackett - "No, no, no, no, no. You know what happens when you experience equipment failure? You deal with it. You try to fix it, you know? Doesn't mean you'll never fly again. Doesn't mean you're not a pilot. Doesn't mean you're gay!"
Trivia[]
- Roy reveals his mother's name is Eleanor "Bluto" Biggins. He also states that his mother has "the soul of a pit bull and the face of a sock puppet".
- Miss Jenkins moved away from Nantucket to get married. Brian claims that she left on "Monday, August 17th, 1974". However, August 17th, 1974 was in fact a Saturday.
- The exterior establishing shot of the middle school where Miss Jenkins' teaches is the same middle school featured in the movie Dazed and Confused.
- Antonio implies that he was banished from his village in Italy and force to drive a cab on Nantucket because he slept with his high school teacher.
- During his first night with Miss Jenkins, Brian suffered from erectile dysfunction for the first time in his life. Joe had also once previously experienced erectile dysfunction, but it was because he hadn't slept in days, he was on cold medicine, he had a bad peach for lunch, and their grandmother had just died.
