Wings

My Brother's Back and There's Going To Be Trouble is the 15th episode of the second season on Wings and the 21st episode overall in the series.

Synopsis[]

While Roy sits at the lunch counter, Lowell approaches and wants to practice some of his impressions for the Lion's Club's talent show. However, all his impressions are terrible.

As Joe enter the hanger, Lowell is working on the plane until he accuses Joe of looking at his wife. After denying it, Lowell ask Joe to pick up a crescent wrench and Joe throws out his back bending over. Helen, Brian, Fay, and Roy enter the hanger and try to help Joe or offer advise while Joe asks to go to the hospital.

At the hospital, Joe is in traction on doctor's orders and needs to remain in traction for two days. Helen tries to comfort Joe when Brian enters the room dressed in hospital scrubs. Helen leaves and Brian tries to convince Joe to let him run Sandpiper Air while Joe is out. A candy striper enters and mistakes Brian for a doctor. Brian jokingly orders that she shave Joe from head to toe to prepare him for surgery. Joe finally relents and agrees to let Brian run the business. After Brian exits, the candy striper returns with shaving cream, a basin of water, and a straightedge razor. Although Joe protests, she prepares to shave him.

The next day in Joe's office, Brian speaks to Mr. Greely, convincing him that Sandpiper is going to set a world record of most high school band members stuffed into a twin engine Cessna for publicity. Brian wraps up the call as Kenny enters. Kenny reports that the flight went well and he handed out promotion material to each of the passengers (the Sandpiper logo painted onto the shell of a live crab). Helen enters and discourages Brian from trying out "gimmicks". Countering, Brian explains that he's already arranged an all expense paid day trip to and tour of Nantucket for Boston's top travel agents sponsored by Sandpiper Air. Fay returns from her tour with the travel agents and list all the places they went including cranberry bog, the whaling museum, and walking through someone's private home because Fay thought it was Herman Melville's historic home. Kenny leaves to prepare the plane for the next flight, but reenters quickly screaming that the plane is missing. Brian asks Fay to stall the travel agents who were supposed to board the next flight and without any other plans, Fay sings Irish folk songs to them. Frantically, Kenny and Brian begin to search for the plane. Brian prayers for help and Inspector Hanson appears for a surprise inspection.

Unable to find the plane, Brian frantically juggles the tired travel agents and the annoyed inspector ask he begs Roy for seats on his next flight to Boston. Lowell enters the terminal, calls Brian over, and introduces him to Peggy McCloskey, housewife and town psychic. Exasperated, Brian leaves Lowell and Peggy when Kenny enters the terminal limping because he crashed his bike in a pothole on the tarmac searching for the plane. As travel agents complain to Brian, Brian forces Helen to play her cello to entertain the anger passengers. With tension mounting, Fay informs Brian that there are no planes to rent on the island as the woman living in "Herman Melville's house" enters the terminal with a police officer. Before Brian can explain anything, the Siasconset High School marching band enters with Ester the Marching Mule. With pandemonium in the terminal, Joe enters the terminal. As Fay is arrested, bedlam erupts.

Leaving the chaos, Brian and Joe enter the hanger and find the plane. Unsurprised to see the plane, Joe asks ensures it was take for it's 100-hour check. Relieved, Brian exits to handle the mayhem in the terminal and Helen enters the hanger. She begins to kiss Joe before he says that the doctor put her on his list of "don't" for the next few weeks and Helen asks what happened to the hair on Joe's arms.

Quotes[]

  • Lowell Mather - "You know, Joe, the Lord has blessed me."
Joe Hackett - "Oh, yeah, how's that Lowell?"
Lowell Mather - "I've got a beautiful wife. Sometimes I just like to lie in bed and watch her sleep. Her face bathed in moonlight, her hair cascading across her pillow, her breasts rising and falling under the covers. Do you ever do that Joe?"
Joe Hackett - "You mean with a girlfriend?"
Lowell Mather - "No, I mean with my wife!"

  • Brian Hackett - "Relax, just stay where you are. I will take care of everything. Trust me."
Joe Hackett - "Brian the last time you said "trust me" I wound up naked on I-95 trying to flag down oncoming traffic."

  • Brian Hackett - "So they all had a pretty nice time?"
Fay Cochran - "Oh, yes. The enjoyed the cranberry bog, and the whaling museum, but they really love it when I took them through Herman Melville's house."
Brian Hackett - "Fay, Herman Melville never lived on Nantucket."
Fay Cochran - "He didn't? ...Well, that certainly explains why that lady in the towel was screaming at us."

  • Helen Chapel - "Okay, okay, okay, so you pulled this one thing off."
Brian Hackett - "Thank you. Thank you very much, and who knows? Maybe some of the things I've set in motion will pan out. And maybe by the time Joe gets back here, Sandpiper will no longer be a one plane operation."
Kenny McElvey - "Mr. Hackett, the plane's missing!"
    Brian Hackett - "See."

  • Kenny McElvey - "Oooh, my mom's always complaining that I'm losing things. First my jacket at the park, then my baseball glove, now the plane."

  • Lowell Mather - "Brian, your problems are over."
Brian Hackett - "You found my plane?!"
Lowell Mather - "Even better. Brian Hackett meet Peggy McCloskey, housewife and town psychic."
Brian Hackett - "Oh, no. You didn't bring me a psychic, Lowell."
Peggy McCloskey - "Mr. Hackett, I'm no charlatan. I'm just an ordinary housewife with paranormal powers I can neither explain nor control."
