Pete Nash was a soldier in the Korean War with a crush on Fay Cochran. He was played by the late Roy Dotrice.
Bio[]
When Pete was just 19 years old he enlisted to serve in the Korean War. In 1951, the night before he was to ship out, Pete and friends went to the U.S.O. Syracuse where Pete met Fay Schlob. While dancing, Pete broke one of Fay's toes. He was nervous about going to Korea and he and Fay talked the whole night. When he said he was worried about not returning, Fay told him that he had to come back because he "owned her a dance". In Korea, Pete carried Fay's picture with him and even told his buddies that she was his girl. Then one day, his platoon was under heavy artillery fire. He took out Fay's picture, dropped it, bent down to pick it up, slipped on his canteen, and shot himself in the ass (The Faygitive).
After recovering, life went on for Pete and he married. In the mid-1990s, Pete's wife passed away and he found his old picture of Fay and considered some of the things in his life that he had not had a chance to do. Reflecting on missed opportunities, Pete hired a private investigator to find Fay so he could thank her. Before he left Nantucket, Pete and Fay finally shared that dance that had been promised so long ago (The Faygitive).
