Phil Chapel was the father of Casey and Helen. Although mentioned multiple times, Phil was never fully seen in the series.
Bio[]
In his early life, Phil Chapel enlisted in the navy and served in two wars ('Twas the Heist Before Christmas).
In the early 1970s, Phil moved with his wife and daughters from Texas to Nantucket. On Nantucket, Phil worked with his wife at the airport lunch counter (Return to Nantucket (Part 1)). Every Christmas on Nantucket, Phil and Dee Dee hosted a large Christmas party and their home was even dubbed "The Christmas House". Phil also wore Christmas sweaters every year specially made for him by Dee Dee ('Twas the Heist Before Christmas).
After retiring, Phil and Dee Dee moved back to Texas (in or near Houston) leaving the lunch counter to their daughter Helen (All For One and Two For Helen).
During Christmas 1990, Phil and Dee Dee were going to visit Helen on Nantucket, but they missed their flight because the camel from the local Christmas pageant fell on Dee Dee.
Trivia[]
- In Return to Nantucket (Part 1), it is revealed that Phil was overweight.
- Phil's name was revealed in Casey's time capsule letter in Life Could Be a Dream.
- During the series, Phil and Dee Dee lived in or near Houston, Texas (A Terminal Christmas).
- In 'Twas the Heist Before Christmas, Helen mentions that her father served in two wars. Given the ages of Casey and Helen, these were likely the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Based on Joe's comments about a "white belt and white shoes", it appears Phil was enlisted in the navy.
