On February 13th, 1997, Russell Greaney hired Sandpiper Air to fly a banner over the diner where his girlfriend, Nancy, works asking her to marry him. Thinking the gesture was very romantic, Helen went along with Joe and Russell in the plane to fly the banner on Valentine's Day. However, when they called Nancy, it was realized that she only knew Russell as the "creepy guy" that stared at her all day and had never spoken to him. Devastated, Russell next tried to marry Helen. When Helen made it clear that she would not leave Joe for him, Russell asked out Casey.
