Holes in Brian's Biography[]

I don't mean holes in the information provided on this website, but the producers/writers created an implausible biography for Brian. They made him a Princeton dropout who got accepted as a NASA astronaut. NASA has required astronaut candidates to have a degree in engineering or science since the second Astronaut Selection Group in 1962 (the Mercury 7 were required to have a bachelor degree "or equivalent" - Glenn and Carpenter had gone all the way through their senior years of college but weren't awarded their degrees until after their flights). So unless he got a college degree elsewhere between dropping out of Princeton and the time he got picked by NASA, there is no way he could have. Also, NASA requires at least 3 years of professional experience after obtaining the degree OR 1,000 hours as a pilot-in-command on jets. Joe said Brian was the youngest person ever selected for the astronaut corps. Joe Engle was 24 when he was selected in 1965, so Brian would have to have been younger than that. Even if he got his degree by the time he was 23, would have been implausible for him to get 1,00 hours of pilot-in-command time on jets by then. Reefmonkey (talk) 23:17, December 3, 2019 (UTC)

  • The show had multiple writers during its run. All of whom interpreted the character differently. I doubt if everything was put together it wouldn't make much sense. Thor2000 (talk) 23:21, December 3, 2019 (UTC)

In "Four Dates That Will Live in Infamy" Brian claims to be a Pisces, but he may have been lying (perhaps thinking Pisces sounded "cool"?) because Alex is fishing for birthday gift ideas from Joe in "Joe Blows Part 1," which allegedly takes place before Christmas. Brian is consistently portrayed as a womanizer unable to commit, which disregards that he was married to Carol for six years and that she left him, hardly a demonstration of disloyalty on his part.
