Winston Catlow was an old cellist and local time resident of Nantucket. He was played by actor Basil Langton.
Bio[]
Winston Catlow was Helen Chapel's first cello instructor. When she made mistakes, he would throw pencils at her and Helen attributes this for motivating her to improve. Winston was also one of the founding members of the Nantucket String Quartet (The Gift: Part 1).
After attending a concert performance in a dress shirt and bicycle shorts, Catlow was voted out of the Nantucket String Quartet. But as auditions were being held, Catlow vowed that without him there would be no quartet. Helen was eventually offered his spot and during her first concert with the quartet, Catlow interrupted the dressed as The Phantom of the Oprah. Spangler was so upset that he disbanded the quartet completely (The Gift: Part 2).
